The Wednesday Word - auscultation
Today’s word is auscultation. It is what doctors (and
others) do when the listen to sounds inside the body to try and work out what
is going on
Here is my quote for it:
“Dr Smith attempt to diagnose everything with auscultation.
Sore throat – he would listen to you swallowing. Stomach ache – he would try
and hear the tummy rumblings. Bruised leg – he would tap your knee and claim he
could hear the blood rushing out. While many people enjoyed it, others thought
it was sheer quackery.”
Check out the original Wednesday Word, or many other Wednesday Words here.
Feel free to let me know if you ever come across a word you think may be appropriate for this part of my blog.
