The Wednesday Word - scherzando
Today’s word is scherzando, an adjective which means playful
or sportive and comes from an Italian word which means to joke. The term is
usually used in relation to music, particularly piano music, but I think it is
high time that it was brought out of the sonatas and studies and into general
usage (even a verb).
Here is my quote for it:
“He scherzandoed his way through the dinner party with
apocryphal anecdotes and barely believable yarns which had the guests in fits
of laughter for the whole evening.”
