Police officer chases his tail
Here is an unfortunate,
but harmless case of police bungling.
After a spate of burglaries in a town in southern England, an operator monitoring the CCTV cameras in real time thought he had located a suspicious looking character. The operator then radioed a police constable who was at a nearby location and asked him to go and check it out. When the operator asked him what he could see, the police constable replied that he could not see anything or anyone. Each time the police constable was directed by the CCTV operator to a new location and asked what he could see, and each time the suspicious looking character had evaded the police constable.
This went on for 20 minutes before a Sergeant entered the control room and the article stated the following:
"With the sergeant's sides aching from laughter he pointed out to the Police Constable that the operator had been watching him unaware that he was a plainclothes officer - thus the Police Constable had been chasing himself round the streets."
