The Wednesday Word - mondegreen
Today's word is mondegreen, which means mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase as a result of near homophony, in a way that gives it a new meaning.
Up until last week I had never heard of the term until Di from Snippets and Scraps used it in her post about the David Jones Window display.
Here's an example from Alanis Morisette's song "You oughta know" -
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
The middle line is often heard or quoted as “of the cross eyed bear that you gave to me”
However I would encourage you to go to Snippets and scraps and see if you can find the pictorial mondegreen.

Haha. That is great. Perhaps a little inappropriate but I loved Robert Palmer's Addicted to love.
I have my own lyric for 'Pumped up kicks" — outrun my bullet is now outrun my puppet. Makes the song a bit more fun.
