So according to John Gray, secular humanism is a “simple creed”, evangelical atheism is merely “the mirror image of the faith it attacks”, the Genesis story is a “truthful myth” and Christianity is a faith with redeeming doubts, yet all serve “a need for meaning rather than an interest in truth” (“The empty myths peddled by evangelists of unbelief”, December 12). Really? Surely the man who claimed to be “the truth” had some interest in it?
