The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, is attempting “explosive pension reforms” to restrict retirement privileges for state workers over 50 (“Sarkozy tackles sacred cow”, September 20). While the aged do not have a monopoly on being difficult, I wouldn’t want to be the one taking on an organised, experienced, time-rich, cashed-up, union-supported group of people who are ready to fight to the(ir) death.
